Aloha everyone, there's been some interest among the Kahumoku campers about ferrying over to Moloka'i for the Slack Key Fest there and meeting up with some Aloha Music campers prior to their workshop start. Sort of a reunion, I think it's on Saturday, June 19. But since I'm having great difficulty accessing AMC's website, I thought I'd approach this party here first.

Is anyone interested in making this a group outing? Does anyone know the schedule for the ferry that goes from Lahaina to Moloka'i? Is there a taxi from the dock to wherever the Fest is? (for folks who have difficulty walking?) It sounds like it would be a lot of fun, not only listening to beautiful music but also seeing familiar faces from previous camps. A great kick-off to a special music week.

Sheesh, I tried a smiley face but apparently it no longer works. Is there someone out there sabotaging those emoticons????

Here's the ferry schedule I saw (Molokai Princess). On Saturday, it departs Lahaina @ 6:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., and it departs Kaunakakai Harbor at 5:30 a.m and 2:30 p.m. You could leave the Festival after lunch and a couple hours of music, but it would be a very early day for you to get to Lahaina by 6:15 for check-in.

I would so dearly love to see folks there (and, heck, I just wanna GO!), but since we can't fly out until Sat a.m., if I do get to see the Molokai Slack Key Festival, it would only be the last few minutes of it (and even that depends on how tired Kem is after spending 13 hours en route - he thinks we will want to head straight for check-in...) On the other hand, I should get to see most of the Maui Festival on the 27th, and hopefully see people there. Kem and I fly into Kahului around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, so I should be able to get to the MACC by 3:00. Also, Kem says that if he is "slack-keyed out" (what kind of man did I marry?!?) after a week of Beamer Camp, he may just drop me off and head to our room to spend the afternoon relaxing, in which case I may have to beg the indulgence of a ride back to Wailuku from one of you if it is getting too dark to walk safely.

Anyway, if you guys do go over to Kaunakakai, I hope you have a great time! Less than 2 months to go!

Me ke aloha,

Debbie

P.S., Julie, if the emoticons betray you, you could always go the primitive route:
:-)
