                       NORTHWEST FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL at Seattle Center, Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-30, 2005)
  Sunday, May 29, will feature a number of events and activities of interest to the Hawaiian, Polynesian, and `ukulele-playing communities:
 
  `Ukulele Extravaganza 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, Intiman Theatre    Enjoy a ‘supa’ `ukulele extravaganza with virtuoso Rod Lopez, Sr. (11:30 am), followed by the Kimball `Ukulele Ensemble, the largest elementary-school `ukulele group in Seattle (Noon).  The Seattle `Ukulele Players Association (SUPA) brings more fantastic `ukulele playing and singing (12:30 pm)!
  Hawaiian/Polynesian Show 1:30 – 4:30 pm, McCaw Hall    Feast your eyes on some of the Northwest’s best hula halau!  A well-loved Folklife tradition, this show is brought to you by the local Hawaiian & Polynesian communities.  The live music and beautifully choreographed dances will transport you to your very own island paradise.  Lineup: 1:30 pm) Halau Hula Pulamahiaikalikolehua 2:20 pm) Na Lei O Manu`akepa 3:05 pm) Ke Liko A`e O Lei Lehua 3:50 pm) Halau Hula O Napualani
  `Ukulele Jam Session 4:30 – 6:30 pm, McCaw Promenade    Open to all uke-sters, this kanikapila is led by members of SUPA.

  Hawaiian Slack-key guitarist SAM KAMA, special guest of the Festival, has three performances – Friday, May 27, 7 pm at 3rd Place Books Narrative Stage Sunday, May 29, 9:20 pm at Intiman Theatre Monday, May 30, 5 pm at Rainier Room (also broadcast on KBCS)
  DA UDDAH GUYZ will be performing Sunday, May 29, 7 pm at EMP’s “Liquid Lounge” (no charge, but you must be over 21)
  Tahitian dance: Saturday, May 28, 11 am at Center House Court: APATOERAU Sunday, May 29, 5 pm at Olympic Room: TAPO AROQUIAME leads a dance workshop |

  I just got my program today, and see he's also giving a slack-key workshop Sunday 3-4pm at the learning lab in the EMP. I may have to haul a kika 'round with me that day after all :-/ |
