Aloha all,

Just wanted to share my thoughts about Friday night's intense show in Redwood City, CA... I can't even begin to describe the emotion when Cyril came out... knowing about his loss, I was amazed that he was even out, but he did. Its difficult to find the words to describe it, but mesmerizing might be a start. It was so emotional, but it felt like 1000 people were all there at the same time sending Cyril the most supportive and positive thoughts. The song he sang to his wife.. wow... so powerful, so moving and then to follow it up with Hi'ilawe... very emotional moments. The show went on from there, but Cyril's performance really touched me. Uncle Dennis was insanely great, but he could sing the phone book and give me goose bumps.. very entertaining stories as well. Really enjoyed George Kahumoku too, that was the first time I'd seen him live. The Makaha Sons brought out quite a talented young man named Barry Kimokeo... and let me tell ya' folks.. he was one heck of a guitar playa and quite the falsetto too. I actually went to the Attic on Saturday night and saw the Makaha Sons show there too... great venue, very personal and sounded very good. Of course the Makaha Sons vocals were perfect. They even brought out Fiji to sing some songs. I had the opportunity to get to know Barry Kimokeo a bit and he gets an A+, what a genuine, warm and respectful young man... I'm summarizing because my cat is making typing very difficult right now so I'll stick with a short version... for me, the entire weekend was a treat. Oh, can't forget about the greatest MC on the planet... Mr. Landeza... always in the mix.

Aloha!
