I don't know if ya'll remember me...
It's the artist formerly known as Kapila...just call me Mr. Holland...
just started a band/orchestra teaching job here, for elementary kids...
Yikes!
Makes the posibility of getting to camp next June a well needed and deserved award!
The kids are mostly great, just hate the organizational stuff at the start of the year...and I really need to sharpen up on trumpet, trombone, cello, clarinet, and of course, the beloved euphonium!

I just hope the kids like Hawaiian turnarounds!
I have 3 schools, 2 of which are in the mountains...
I wonder if I was a travelin' preacher in a previous life?
I like the inter-school commute, and travelin' through the mountains, except for the occassional blizzard (but if it hits early enough, it's a "snow day"...and a good day to practice my slack key and get payed too.)

Have I missed any incredible news here?
Anyway, have to go practice my trombone turnarounds!
I promise I won't bring that to camp!
Kapila

P.S. anyway, I had to demo EVERYTHING at all the schools last week....yikes...trombones and trumpets and clarinets--oh my.
Thusly, more than half took to the STRING side of the tracks!--not the norm!
Guess I "scared 'em straight!"
And finally got some guitar time in on the back porch this morning...that was a great way to start the day.
And sure miss the yada yada stuff and stayin up late!
Laters.

KK,

Sounds like a fun class! How come I didn't have a class like that when I was a kid?

Have fun, the artist formerly known as Kapila.

Thanks for checking in former (and future) kapila kane.

Remember "there is a time for every sousaphone under heaven"

Just use the "think" method...

Sounds like you're destined to spend all day on stage at the next slack key festival - just stay away from the mangoes!!!
Good to have you back on-line.

Yes, good to be back...after I get my first year beginners going this next week, I hope to get my groove back...
the challenge this week is to get 40 kids on 5 or 6 band instruments assembled and playing a one note "song" in 30 minutes...if they aren't late! If not, we're all still breathing and in a lovely place...could be worse!
I don't anticipate any trombones on the plane...security issues!
Now, what new things of IMPORTANCE, have I missed?
Aloha,
G
