Sacramento....Get Kanikapla? My name is Mike and I'll be moving to Citrus Heights, area near Roseville. I'll be there in May. Already I'm missing playing with the brothers here, but I've already experienced a warm welcome from folks all over the country.... and I not even there yet!
I was wondering if anybody gets together to play music nearby.... Folsom is good too. I've been to the Elk Grove kanikapila at Hawaiian Barbecue and that was awesome! Good friends, good food, good music! If I don't find anyone in Citrus Heights, I'd like to organize something in my area. And of course continue to go to Elk Grove (1/2 hr.) Please let me know friends! I'll be right here in da Taropatch... making taro chips...wit da owners permission. Aloha and God bless.
Mike

Shootz, Brah. Right here in the city where we live, we get choke deer, I no longer plant a vegetable garden because they eat all my kaukau. Before I retired, at work we had one tom turkey so huge, he could peek in your car window at you in the parking lot and look at you eyeball to eyeball. We get bunnies, groundhogs, possums(shameless plug: go you tube to listen to Unko Paul sing about da possum -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nktwTm7E76M ) I read in California get coyotes attacking your pet animals. We get coyotes over here, also, but they are pretty fearful of humans and seem to stay in the parks and at the airports. Down W. Va. where my dad lived befo he wen make, he got bears fighting with his adopted dogs, where he would put dog food outside for eat. The bears wanted that dog chow, too, and really buss up the dogs, he spent lots of money at the vet getting dogs fixed up. The ground hogs live under our back porch and share the space with a mama possum. Oh, and no forget the skunks. We get plenty in the neighborhood, but I think the ground hogs chased them out from under our porch. Hauna when they lived there. Oh, and no forget the squirrels.
Plus also on the animal channel on TV, they said deers and rabbits are related that bunnies arre not rodents. They said deer and bunnies get da same kine looking #2, little pellets. |

Braddah Mike, good to see that you found Taropatch. Don't know of any ongoing kanikapila in the Sacramento area but I am familiar with the one in Vacaville (2nd Sunday of each month) hosted by Jerry (jlsulle). You'd definitely be a more than welcome addition to their get togethers. I'd offer to meet you at the next one but I'm tied up on that particular Sunday for the next couple of months. Anyways, hook up with you soon. Malama pono... |

Hey, Mike--when you get something going I *will* drive down to join you. I'm not a good ukulele player, but I'm enthusiastic. I'm north of you--it'd be about a two-hour one-way drive to Citrus Heights but, as KonaBob put it so aptly, I do enjoy playing with others! Just don't count on me to add much musically to the mix--but my smile will never end.... |
