I haven't done one of these for a while, due to lack of stuff out there on the you tube and due to lack-a-daisical on my part.
Music Guy Mic now has a You Tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/musicguymic You can see some of the instruments he has and hear how they sound. If you are looking to mail order a uke, I highly recommend Music Guy Mic. The best customer service! He is in Kaneohe.
If you want to learn something, check out Hokulani78’s channel for some very fine history of Hawai`i. He has really done his research and has been gracious enough to share what he has learned with all those who frequent You Tube and with our Taro Patch `ohana. http://www.youtube.com/user/hokulani78 I appreciate his permission to post links to his videos here on Taro Patch. Please take the time to watch these, as you can. It is a sign of respect for the lands that we care so much about. Here is what he has to say about his videos: As far as the Hawaiian videos, a nation is never conquered until it surrenders its national consciousness, its kuamo`o `ōlelo. These mo'olelo of our kūpuna are that kuamo`o `ōlelo of our lāhui and our part of the broader traditions of humanity. Regardless of what our political views maybe, how we envision Hawai`i, or what race we are from, we can not forget the stories of our ancestors. By retelling these stories, by retelling our history, we keep our ancestors alive and we remind ourselves of the richness of the culture we have inherited. For Native Hawaiians, so much of our sacred sites are gone. The great temples of Liloa are gone. Gone are lauhala forests of Hi`iaka. So much of Hawai'i is gone. But by remembering our history, our mythology, our genealogies, we re-erect these sacred places again, the ancient battles are once more re-fought, the romances between the gods and man blossom once again, and our kūpuna walk upon the `āina again.

One of Hokulani78's videos features Braddah Iz singing Kau Na`i Aupuni. Part of the chorus Iz sings " E mau ke ea o ka `aina i ke pono." Why not Ua mau...? Is it just sloppy attention to detail of the `olelo on the part of Iz or is that correct and it provides a different meaning? Mahalo to anyone sharing their mana`o.

Derek - that young man is totally amazing. Thanks for calling our attention to his channel. I am still shaking my head in amazement. I like the "Billie Jean", which I cannot believe I am saying, but...if its good, its good. |

I sang "'Ama'ama" about a dozen times until the language screw-ups weren't too noticeable. Making videos is good fun. Jesse |

Wanda the phrase "E Mau...." is correct. Look at the context of the song. The line is not the motto you thinking of. But an imperative to perpetuate the sovereignty with rightousness. |

Braddah Al - Hokulani78 went back to his video and posted a clarification as to why the E mau instead of Ua mau, just like you explained above. I am so glad to have access to folks who can help me learn. |

Uncle Willie doing Hawaiian Cowboy -- holy mackanoli. Like I say, he can do ANYTHING! Somewhere out there, he also does some opera - yes in Italian. He could give Placido Domingo a run for his money. Hey, I wonder if Placido related to Uncle Duke? |
