Contemperary slack key by danial ho and steve sano is a great book. It works with G tuning. Im impressed by the amount of old songs put in with some new sounds. includes kumu mele, hawaii aloha, Hawaii ponoi, aloha oe, Ke aloha o ka haku. check it out comes with a cd. only about 20 bucks or so. I enjoyed as a beginer Im sure many of u would like to try it. aloha jer
Just out of curiosity, which songs did you find approachable as a beginner? Although this book does contain a lot of nice music, it tends to be criticized because it deviates from traditional slack key and because it's not targeted at beginners (unless you're a beginner at slack key but have experience playing guitar).
Also, the tuning Daniel uses is G Kilauea, as opposed to Open G or Taro Patch.
