Amy Stillman's newest blog entry is pretty much "everything you ever needed to know about Johnny Almeida", with list (and details) about his many compositions:

Auntie Amy is an ethnomusicologist specializing in the music of Hawai'i. She co-produced three - soon to be four - CDs of Hawaiian chant and wrote the mele for two of the three CD collaborations by Daniel Ho and Tia Carrere. She is the author of Sacred Hula: The Historical Hula 'Āla'apapa as well as dozens of articles on Hawaiian mele and hula. I am sure I am missing some essential credential as this amazing woman sleeps, breathes, and eats Hawaiian music (along with healthy doses of Dairy Queen).

She is also a really wonderful and happy human being, Julie. Someone you would enjoy being around.

Yes, Bob,

At this stage of my life I want to be surrounded by ONLY upbeat, lively, positive, happy people! Who needs the grumps?

Julie - this forum is not meant to be a forum to display prejudice against specific groups of people. We grumps are human beings too with hearts and lives and frankly the role of a grump is not easy. Without grumps how could you pollyannas go around displaying your sweet happy faces. Grumps unite.

I think we get more grumpy as we get older. Sorta like Crankshaft!
