Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nominee Keali’i Blaisdell is back with more original songs, and he’s made free downloads available!
Go to his Facebook fan page at http://on.fb.me/fVmRB7 (click on the “Band Profile” tab) to download, OR to his ReverbNation page at http://bit.ly/fMXE3n (click on “download” underneath the first three song titles). “Namomilaniokai” will also be made downloadable soon!
Long time fans of Keali’i will remember that he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2007 that caused severe memory loss, in addition to numerous physical problems. He didn’t remember how to play his guitar or being a musician and performer or having written numerous songs, he forgot how to speak ‘ōlelo Hawai’i (Hawaiian language), he didn’t remember most of his friends and family... But with the help of his wife Korrie and his therapists, he worked long and hard to relearn everything – from how to walk, read, write, do math, speak Hawaiian - to how to play and write music again.
I’ll never forget the day he called me several years ago, all excited because he’d just written the first song since his stroke. He played/sang the song to me over the phone, and I was SO happy I cried – not only to hear how far he’d come in his recovery, but because the song was incredibly beautiful.
I hope you enjoy these new songs by Keali’i as much as I do!
