Last night at kanikapila at ‘Ukulele Sundays at Molly Bloom’s in San Clemente, California, Keith brought a Skatalele, To describe the sound plugged in, it was similar to a Tahitian 'Ukulele. Unplugged it is soft and bright. I had fun playing some blues on it. The best way I can describe it is it's a fusion between Pacific Island and California Surf music cultures. The eye appeal is off da' hook. Here’s their website where you can ask questions:

Striking instruments, all right, and good recycling of old skateboards. Those look like can-lid resonators, right? I checked the website and it doesn't look like they're actually making these for sale, so here's a niche for a competitive luthier!
