Whoa! The videos are awesome. What a cool way to learn what effects do to your own guitar without having to enlist the aid of a sound engineer. I wonder what it would do on my tenor Ukulele?

Kawika Kahiapo told me about this. Price goes up after September 1.

Fascinating. Is it more about the effects or can you really boost the volume? Anybody know how loud it really is?

Ordered in August and was suspecting a scam after waiting almost 5 months. But it came today. Pretty darn impressive. I installed it on my travel guitar (VoyageAir) because I didn't want to mess up my Taylor if it was garbage. I bought 2 x-magnets, so I'll get it on the Taylor soon. Simple instructions if you don't want to do weird effects; the basics are straightforward. As advertised and spooky good. You can make it really loud. The default is for your host pickup up to 50% and then set the overall gain on the device. I had it working in about 10 minutes.

Mahalo for the info Terry. I was waiting for a trusted review. Your confirmation means I better order one now. BTW when are you passing through town again. I want a Mulligan for that mediocre kanikapila I organized for you. Maybe the weather will cooperate this time so we can do it proper.

A follow up. While the Tonewood Amp works great in my Voyageair (Grand Concert size), I could not get it into my Taylor K12. Based on the recommended placement on the rear of the guitar, the last cross brace on my Taylor's back prevents getting the magnet x-brace into the correct place. Rather than mess with it by moving the unit on the back, I'm content for now to leave it on my travel guitar.

Before buying one of these watch the installation videos. Also, loosen your strings and make sure that you can get your hand all the way back to the recommended magnet x-brace placement. If you have a sound hole pickup, you'll have to take it out to get your hand in there (my experience with my Voyageair which has a Fishman Rare Earth sound hole PU). Also, be advised, once you get the magnet x-brace in place, don't mess with it. The sticky stuff on the brace is only good for one pass. They send an extra set of sticky tabs, but this part of the equation still needs some engineering. It's easy to mess it up. Still amazed how well it works.

Duke,
No problem with the kani. Despite the weather, we still had a great time and you were a great host.
