Mel contacted me the week before their Pakele Live appearance -- and yes, I'll be carrying the new CD...as soon as he remembers to send me the shipment. |

Here's a little more info on Nat's party, for those who need convincing?! (Is there really anybody out there who does?) Anyways...here ya go!
Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Natalie Ai Kamauu's LONG awaited new CD ('I) is finally here, and will be released on 11/4. But in the mean time, please join us at the Ala Moana Hotel tomorrow night for a very special, 3 hour version of Pakele Live! We'll not only be celebrating the release of Nat's new CD, we'll also be celebrating her birthday!
(FYI, the photo on the left is a "sleeve" over the CD. The photo on the right is the actual CD itself)
In addition to her regular band - husband Iolani (EO) Kamauu and brother Chad Ai – Nat has invited some very special guests, all of whom lent a hand in one way or another on her new album: Na Hoku winners and island favorites Maunalua, Aaron Sala (who many of you saw with Raiatea on the mainland earlier this year), KUmZ (Merrie Monarch-winning Kumu Hula/musicians Michael Casupang and Karl Veto Baker), and Nat's father Howard Ai – who released his WONDERFUL debut album Kaleihulumano earlier this year (an album deserving of many, many Na Hoku nominations, in my humble opinion! He'll certainly get my vote...). There will also be hula, of course! (And I'm sure a duet or two with Nat and her dad, which is guaranteed chicken skin...)
This is a CD release party you won't want to miss, whether you're there in person or watching online! (E kala mai - those watching online won't get to share in the birthday cake...)
Join host Tony Solis and a different musical guest each Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. HST (5-8 p.m. this week only!) for the free Pakele Live! concert taping and live internet broadcast, located in the Pakele Lounge at the Ala Moana Hotel (410 Atkinson Dr., Honolulu).
You can also watch live online at: http://www.alohavideo.tv/ or http://www.pakelelive.com/.
Those in Japan can tune in at http://www.j-wave.co.jp/
If you watch online, don't forget to email the show at pakele @ lava.net and let them know you're watching (and from what city)!
Aloha nui! |

| After many late nights watching the Pakele live stream from the East Coast, it was great to finally make it to the Ala Moana Hotel. Since it was a CD release party and birthday party (3-hours), even better. We got there about 1/2 way through the show so missed the Kumz but ran in to Kumu Veto and Kumu Lanakila on their way out. They sent us over to sit with some of their hālau. I got to say hi to Pali and Tony Solis (thanks for the Taropatch.net shout out, as always.) I saw Lynn and met the Abrigo 'ohana. The music was amazing. I first heard Natalie Ai Kamau'u on Pakele. Her voice blows me away. I bought the new album on the way out. If you don't own it, visit Auntie Maria. Maunalua's set was a big crowd pleaser as usual. And birthday cake for everyone?!?! Got to enjoy cake with Kumu Hula Marlene Haili Kuraoka and some of her students. A very enjoyable evening. |

Hey Andy ... missed seeing you at this Pakele Lounge event. I was excited to be there "live," as well, after seeing so many webcasts. Great music, hula, people and fun (plus all the candy and cake, of course)! And I think this was the 2nd time you and I have crossed paths on Oahu without actually meeting . . . maybe next time!
