Aloha all -
I am one of the contributers to a great new ukulele book that supports Ukuleles for Peace. What's that? Nothing short of a small miracle -- a group that promtes Arab-Israeli harmony through teaching ukulele in schools and performing in an ukulele orchestra.

Contributers include James Hill, Dominator, Brian Heffernan, Ken Middleton, Wilfred Welti and Woodshed. Songs range all over the map, from folk to trad to classical-- I included "Jesu Meka Kanaka Waiwai" and "`Ukulele Slack Key #1."
It is a fantastic cause, and a terrific book.

Hi all -
Just got an update from Paul Moore, the founder of Ukuleles for Peace. I'm posting it here, as I think this is a wonderful program that deserves our support.

I am not sure if every one got the last News letter , as my
list of contacts got messed up . If you did not ,and want to read it i,

Some Important Personal News ( which is why i am late getting this
out) First i became a Grandfather on my Birthday the 4th of March ! My
granddaughter is doing fine likewise the parents! .
Second. We are moving to a Caravan /pre fab in the Mountain village of
Harashim which is in the Western Galilee in June/July .. It is a small
place 3 rooms in all for the 3 of us and 4 cats ,the chickens will live
outside !
We hope to start building a house by Fall !
This will make the UFP groups in the Center at Hod Hasharon and Tira
2hours and 15 mins away by car . I of course want to carry on with UFP
in the center but we will have to start getting funding on a regular
basis as the expenses alone for travel and time invested will be lot .
I hope also to start a New UFP in the Galilee near to where we will live.
Any ideas on how to get regular funding so we can keep going in the
center and start another group in the Galilee will be great fully
welcome.
Holidays by both communities have taken up most of April , but we are
all back again .
We had a very nice show in Jaffa for the Arab Womans Spring Fair in
April which Featured both The Orchestra and younger members
participating on several of the easier songs ..
I attended the Israeli /Palestinian PEACE EDUCATION WORKSHOP on APRIL
24-25 TANTUR JERUSALEM which was organized by IPCRI. I gave a workshop
on UFP , and made some good contacts, participated in some good
workshops and refreshed the Spirit , which in these hard times for Peace
Makers is needed by us all.
The UFP Spring Picnic for all the Family is planned for the 2nd of May
in a Local Park not far from us
Sad to announce the sudden passing Of John King a fine Ukulele player
who supported UFP .You can see a tribute to him made by Tony and Marg
makers of "THe Mighty Uke film

I shall be performing and talking about UFP at ukulele Festivals in
Italy in June and Finland in August , ( i am waiting for confirmation re
the one in Italy.) I will post details on these shortly .
