Does anyone know of a hula friendly recording to this mele? I found it on mele.com by Kaukahi, but it is not a good rendition conducive to hula. Our halau is learning to dance this and I would like something so I can practice at home. Our kumu has a recording that is from or by Punana Leo, the Hawaiian immersion preschool. Yep, this is a very keiki friendly mele, but it is also way friendly to an old lady like me, too.
Additionally if anyone knows chords for it, I would be most grateful.

| Aloha Wanda, AFAIK those are the only two recordings of that song. I helped Kāwika Kahiapo get the copyright clearance through 'APL so that Kaukahi could record it. Don't know of anyone else that has. |

| Mahalo, e Keola. Kaukahi's version of the mele is so beautiful. I think our kumu doesn't quite know what to do with the pa`ani, but it is most beautiful anyway. I'd like to try dance this version because it is slow enough for an old decrepit auntie like me. |

| Braddah Al - I think that is the best thing to do. We going listen to Kaukahi over and over to get the tune right and then we get Paul making music for us to dance. |

| Please feel free to e-mail me if you need chord help. I know you said you would rather learn from someone with more experience, but I have perfect pitch. I am not trying to put on heirs or say that having it makes me better than all the rest of you guys. It's just a general fact about me. |

Chords are usually no problem, I figure those out pretty easily. I do need to study a recording to get the pronunciation and phrasing correct, and of course to learn the melody. The language barrier takes the longest time, though. Textbook pronunciation is one thing, speaking like a native speaker is quite another. But years from now, I'll have years of experience, right?
