Love "Kalapana" by Ohana Serenaders; back to the roots style. Can't find a CD, or any info about them, but they will be performing with Na Palapalai July 3, in Hilo. Doubt if I can go, auwe. Can anyone kokua? (Heard them on KPOA 93.5, Maui) Mahalo nui!

I've got one of the vinyls released by the `Ohana Serenaders -- Ku Like Makou I Ho`okani.
Featured are two of the Kaapana sisters (Rhoda Kekona and Trudie Kamelamela) plus Matthew & Kawohi Kamelamela, Kalani Kekona, and Jonathan Kaonohi. Not sure which of them will be playing the July 3 Hilo gig...but I'm sure it will be wonderful! |

Mahalo nui Auntie Maria! You have a wealth of information about mele! "Ku Like Makou I Ho'okahi" is the record I'd like to find, but don't know if it will be possible. I'll ask Val Toro if she knows how KPOA got the recording. I'll have to keep my eyes open; yard sales, flea markets, used record stores, etc... We don't have anything by them at KAPU, but I hope we will. They are delightful! When Norman gets back from O'ahu, I'll see what we can figure out.

Aloha e kakou,
Ohana Serenaders played last night at Na Palapalai's 15th Anniv concert in Hilo. I heard thru the 'vine that their show was amazing! Even Shawn Ishimoto of The Ferns said so. I'm heartsick I was not able to attend this concert! Does anyone know who showed up from OS?
I wish that the promoters/producers would video tape these big concerts, and sell DVD's. Maybe that's not practical, or too expensive??
