Hey patch members,

I have been playing slack key for 3 and half years, almost but anyways, in those three years i have developed.. well ill just say a fascination with guitars, but essentially i love absolutely everything about them, and want to know as much as i can about them. So i began looking into how they are made, by master luthiers and factories. And im really intrigued by the whole process. I had previously enjoyed woodworking making various wooden implements out of kiawe and other woods that i found lying around. So i began thinking about the impossible task of actually making a guitar. I was just looking around the internet and found that you can order kits, and basically they do all the measurements, and send u a bunch of pieces to put together. I want to do this, but most decent guitar kits are out of my price range, and just seem to be a very large obstacle. So thats why im posting in here. cause i was wondering if anyone in the patch had any ideas about a good ukulele kit that i could purchase online, or any other helpful information about the guitar and ukulele making process, which i assume are similar, but i could be wrong. I was hoping to get a feel for the process, and maybe hoping to recreate the pieces to create one from scratch in the future

They're quality ukes. John Colter builds them and sells them in England for a profit:

Check out Dennis Lake he lives on Hawai'i. Also Gryphon guitars has on line photo galleries depicting step by step process of building an instrument.

I know that some members here have built instruments. I don't think that they used kits though. You might send them an email. Sorry if I forgot to mention anyone.
