Hey Earl
Sorry I didn't get back to you. Glenn aka Menpachi Man returned my email about 2 weeks after I messaged him (I had already given up on a response) Earl I'm such a doofus. Glenn doesn't live in Idaho. He lives in Iowa!!! Sorry for the bad lead, bruddah. I owe you one. Next time you're in Honolulu I'll try a kanikapila with the local gang in your honor.
Duke
PS: Mahalo for your input regarding your kata. Exactly the same thing. |

No worries, Duke. A lot of people get the "vowel" states confused. When I lived in Alaska (AK) I would get calls all the time asking me about work in Arkansas (AR) or Alabama (AL). Only 4,000 miles and four time zones off. Oops.... My business answering machine would almost every day have some sales call that came in at 4:05 am from someone clueless on the east coast calling at 8:05 am their time.
If I ever get to Oahu again, I'll let you know. It would be great to kani, or at least get some 'ono grinds. |

It's good company here... I still check this, almost as much as email! Well not quite.
Maybe someday we can play and I'll make the list. But not for awhile, Going in for right shoulder "decompression" surgery today, but hope to be playing in 4-5 weeks. (Little prayer here)... It was affecting my bow arm on violin--nobody could tell the difference with my slack key! But wait'll next year! |

Hey Jack
I'm doing my daily pass through the 'Patch right now. I come through here every single day. I may not post or comment but I do drop in to see if there's anything going on.
Hey Gordon
I hope your shoulder surgery went well with no complications. Hope you have a speedy recovery & come back better & stronger than ever. |

I check about twice a day here.
Will post something soon too.
And yes, hope your shoulder is getting better Gordon. So I can see how far you can throw that fiddle now!

I too drop in here almost daily, but I only post when motivated to actually comment on something. I keep my repertoire polished up, and learn new tune once in a while.
I don't have any slack key friends to play with or learn from here locally in Idaho. Reached out yes, but not much response. Everyone that I play ki ho'alu for likes it, but I appear to be a lone voice. (Jesse is in northern Idaho, and five hours drive away so we've never connected).
The latest thing is that I studied slack-key uke with Mark Nelson at a ukulele festival a couple of weeks ago. Some of the classes covered stuff that I already play on guitar, but it is different to do it without all six strings. |

Just got done playing some ki ho'alu. I've figured out "Analani E" by Barney Isaacs in G taropatch.

Kudos for using "pique" instead of "peak" Mika ele. Not trying to be the forum grammar police here, but just wanted to say good job.
Now off to play some slack-key. I have some work to get done, bu don't really feel like it right now. |

Anything kiho'alu "piques" my interest. I used to love it when the activity here on taropatch.net was at it's "peak" I'd drop in a half dozen times a day to take a "peek" |
