Funny ting, do- da pua'a ovah hea, I tink dey backword kine. Dis y- I wen wack, I donno, mebe tousand, two tousand pig Waipi'o side, an ebry one get da shouldah bone in da front. Bu dis pork butt, stay get one sholdah bone insai. So I tinking mebe da pua'a hea, de get da okole in da front, an das y da butt get shouldah bone. Backword kine, I tinking. Get pleeny frog, but, Kohala side. Wen I firs wen stay wid my hanai fadda Waimanu Jack in Waimanu, we wen catch pleeny frog- bamboo, skinny fish line, an small kine plastic on end fo bait. Wen dat frog like grine yo "fly", one quik pull an da buggah come flying fo he can lego. Ono da leg! Jackie, he like prawn, bu I no can grine dat kine so we do da frog ting. Canna grine pua'a all da time. Nevah croak yet, cept da wahine tink I one bullfrog wen hia moe.
Talk bot grine pua'a all da time- I wen chri green maia skin "kalua", an da buggah tase like rost pua'a. Mebbe I no do um right? I donno. Mebbe no can unles get ti leaf fo flavah. I nevah like maia trunk in da emu anyhow.
I tink I goine go wit bradda Petah's manao- shoyu chiken, oa frog- i no kea. Ard fo tell wen da buggah no get featha. Da kua'aina nevah do too good town side. Moa bettah go home... |

Chris - they sell liquid smoke in any grocery store. And if you cannot find it e-mail me with your address and I will send you a few bottles. That is a cooking staple!!!!! And NOBODY should be kalua pua`a `ole. I think they might have it in the spice department at the store or maybe wherever they sell worcestershire sauce. Or if push comes to shove, ask the litle grocery man.
Paul ate escargot on the cruise. Yuck. On accounta I think when I was a kid and we sprinkled salt on slugs in the garden to watch them turn into slime. I figured snails would be the same way, no? |
