Here's a little story I thought people might enjoy...
My art studio is surrounded by cherry orchards which are very busy this time of year because it is picking season. All the cherries are picked by hand, mostly by Hispanic migrant workers. One day last week I was working in my shop and a very polite young man approached me and asked permission to swim in the creek after he was done picking for the day. Between his broken English and my rusty Spanish we introduced ourselves to one another and I allowed that it would be fine if he would like to cool off in the creek. As he left, Raphael asked, "you like cherries? Tomorrow, when I come to swim, I cherry you." Sure enough the next day there was a bag of cherries on the porch.
Over the course of the week I would notice Raphael at the creek but didn't pay too much attention to him while I was working. I work with welding equipment and grinders so I wear safety gear and hearing protection. In order to hear the stereo with ear plugs in I need to crank it up but that's not a problem since there are no neighbors within earshot. For most of last week I had an assortment of John Keawe and Ozzie Kotani CDs in the CD player.
Well, yesterday I was working away and Raphael approached me after swimming and thanked me again for allowing him to do so and then he gestured toward the speakers in my shop and said "... and also,
I like very much the music of just the guitars. It is very beautiful. I like to hear it while I swim."

Cool! Good music always finds an audience.

Tom,
Nice story. Tell Margaret I said Hi. And if you see Uncle Harry tell him we miss him at Kaisen's. We'll even let him do a set.
